Barcelona… Might as well be known as the city that never sleep (sorry NYC!). There are always innovative events going on around this bustling city. And here at the Grid BCN, we will provide you with our recommendations on what to explore, where to eat or drink, which events to attend, and some of our favorite tips and tricks about the city!
Upcoming Events
Happy May, Barcelona! I don’t know about you, but I am so happy that the weather is (finally!) heating up. All the trees and flowers are in bloom, it’s quite a beautiful sight!
Springtime is my favorite time of year, it is so colorful and I love all of the flowers. That’s why I am so excited about the International Rose Trials coming to BCN! From May 13-15 there will be a massive display of roses at Parc de Cervantes. There will be over 2000 species of roses! It is a competition between hard-working breeders where you can participate! There are several different categories you can judge in and the tour goes all around the world.
Walk around and enjoy the sight and smell of thousands and thousands of beautiful roses, snack on some tasty food, or listen to live music performances. There is something fun for everyone, whether you are blessed with a green thumb or not!
Escapade Theatre Company
Interested in a night of live theatre? Visit the Teatre Gaudi Barcelona from May 12th-29th for a sexy twist on the Victorian classic Alice in Wonderland. Alice in Wonderland is put on by the English speaking Escapade Theatre Company. It is a “story of wonder and nonsense laced with lethal wit, wordplay and conundrums of questions with no answers.”
Escapade Theatre Company aims to produce top quality, professional theatre which entertains, provokes and at the same time lays bare the pitiful state of the human condition, all with a dose of the satire and dark humour so customary of the British. Sue Flack, the co-founder and artistic director is originally from London and brings in her own British twist to classic stories.
Alice in Wonderland is a “story of wonder and nonsense laced with lethal wit, wordplay and conundrums of questions with no answers.” For more information about the show visit www.westudio.cat.
Taco Tuesday anyone?!
On May 10th come join The Grid BCN for a Tacos & Talks event at Tik Taco on Joaquin Costa 52, Raval. There will be an astrology coaching session by Laurent Botti. RSVP to thegridbcn@gmail.com, you don’t want to miss out!
Explore Barcelona
Today I am going to share some of my favorite restaurants and things to explore in Barcelona
that I’ve discovered thus far in my journey.
One of my new favorite activities is to hike up to Bunkers del Carmel and enjoy the sunset. The bunkers overlook the entire city and you can get a 360 degree view of it all! It is a bit of a hike though, so make sure to wear appropriate shoes! Bring a bottle of wine and enjoy the view.
Hungry after your hike? Check out Mercat Princesa in El Born! It’s a tapas market with everything from sushi to hamburgers. There are 17 food stalls, and endless combinations!
